Weekly Music Round-Up

Hip Hop’s love affair with professional wrestling continues as the Nature Boy, Ric Flair, recently got some Yeezy 350 V2‘s in all flavours from another Hall of Famer Kanye West. Flair’s G.O.O.D Music affiliation also extends out to the president Pusha T who often compares his blow talk to that of the veteran wrestler. (THEY LOVE ME ON MY RIC FLAIR SHIT, WOO!)

The dynamic duo of Conway & Westside Gunn have finally inked a deal with Shady Records this week following their impeccable solo runs and the highly slept on collaborative effort Griselda Ghost with Bigghost LTD. Signing to Shady in 2017 is an eyebrow raiser but hopefully the support of Eminem and a major label machine behind them could be the final piece of the puzzle. To celebrate, here’s a new Just Blaze produced heater.

All Amerikkkan Bada$$

Apart from the occasional single here and there, it’s been relatively quiet from Joey Bada$$. Luckily that silence is being broken quite soon with the release of Mr Bada$$’s new album titled A.A.B.A (or All-Amerikkkan Bada$$) on the 7th of AprilCompared to the reception that 1999 got, B4.Da.$$’s commercial sound that led to a lot of new mainstream attention was less enjoyed by many Joey Bada$$ fans. Despite this, the small shift also managed to make way for even larger, newer audiences. With the new project, day one Joey fans can only hope that it’s dope.

Ya faves are coming to town. This week the Cape Town International Jazz Fest announced that one of their new international acts set to perform at the annual event in April are The Internet. If you’re based in Cape Town or had already planned on going, this is great news… But for the rest of The Internet fans scattered across the country, there isn’t too much to get hype about, other than the fact that S.A. promoters are doing the right things to get the right international performers. The jazz group’s unique dynamics are sure to be an exciting thing to see live. Follow the link to get your tickets.

Sun Up To Sun Set

After dropping his Play This Before Sex EP last year, Daddy Longstem has had a consistent streak of releases of his own or features, each rich in standout elements. This week, Daddy dropped ‘Sunset’, and the self-produced track is no different. Daddy’s signature witty and confident rap form proves itself useful in this track that also deals with the darker subject matter that we’ve heard from him. If you need a track to unwind to at the end of this week, this is it.

French Montana dropped the video for Said N Done featuring Pretty Flacko off MC4. The track which samples “Scenario” from A Tribe Called Quest is a modern take of the classic scenario (lol) of two arguing neighbors who reconcile over females and loud. A$AP Ferg makes a cameo in this too so you already know its finna get live.
